Drive around lake to ropeway station (20 minutes)

Hakone Ropeway cable car ride, scenic 15-30 minute journey (depending on station and wait times), glide over dense forests and volcanic valleys, aerial views of steaming hot springs and mountain peaks, on clear days see Mt. Fuji throughout the ride, arrive at Owakudani volcanic valley station

Owakudani Volcanic Valley exploration, walk designated trails among active steam vents (strong sulfur smell throughout area), observe hot spring water bubbling from ground at 80°C+, see the barren, moon-like volcanic landscape created by eruption, visit black egg shop to purchase and try kuro-tamago (5 black eggs for ¥500 - eating one supposedly adds 7 years to life according to local legend!), browse visitor center exhibits about Hakone's volcanic geology, take photos of Mt.
